Daniel Olbrychski as a professor of painting
On Wednesday, the crew were shooting all day in Plac Solny in such locations as the Chamber of Crafts and its interiors. We were lucky to enter the set and have a sneak preview of the scene in which Daniel Olbrychski appears together with Torsten Voges. The former told us that he had immediately agreed to play the professor and the dean at the faculty where Dominik, the main hero, is being employed. "Zbyszek Cybulski once told me: 'Danek, you should never ever take bit-parts for granted. A good bit-part is like a check mate in three moves.' Besides, people my age don't have enough strength to spend thirty days on the set. I play leading roles in the theatre instead" reveals the actor smilingly.
International cast
The film is shot in English and is set in Poland, Italy and Germany. "Framed" is going to be the first feature film directed by Piotr Śmigasiwicz. For Jakub Rudnik, it will also be his début as a producer.
The producers have managed to gather an international cast. Apart from Polish actors, the film will star Torsten Voges (a character German actor known for his appearance in "Big Lebowski"), popular Italian actress Alessandra Mastronardi (she starred in Allen's "From Rome with Love") or Luca Calvani ("The Man from U.N.C.L.E" by Guy Ritchie, "From Rome with Love"). How did they make it? "The actors were encouraged by the great script which Piotr had written five years ago, but our passion, perseverance and consistency had also played their part," said the producer. He also admitted that Piotr Śmigasiewicz wrote the script specifically for Piotr Adamczyk, who speaks fluent Italian and is well known in Italy. "He has made the grade with this role, and his hero evolves throughout the film," says the producer.
The crew first came to Wroclaw at the end of October to shoot in the airport and in ul Cybulskiego. They later relocated to Italy and now are finally returning to Wroclaw, where they are going to complete the shooting process. Editors and sound engineers will later take over to add finishing touches. Other members of the crew include Arek Tomiak as director of photography (most notably known for "Obława" by Marcin Krzyształowicz), Andrzej Besztak as production manager (worked on a number of films, including "Schindler's List" by Spielberg, "The Pianist" by Polański and "In Darkness" by Holland) and Jacek Hamela as sound director. The film's première is scheduled for autumn 2015. "Framed" will later be distributed in Polish cinemas and elsewhere throughout Europe.
