The "Jacob's Ladder" by Jakub Szczęsny

September 10-11, 10 am - 2 pm, the courtyard in ul. Miernicza, free admission

The campaign will take place in the courtyard at ul. Miernicza in Przedmiescie Oławskie. On his way through the streets of Przedmiescie Oławskie, the architect will set up his stepladder inside courtyards. Equipped with binoculars and protected against falling, the willing residents of the nearby tenements will be welcome to climb up to the level of more than five meters, to observe their everyday environment from this height.

The exhibition will comprise archival photographs, postcards, plans and documents presenting the history of this unique building, referred to as the first Wroclaw high-rise building, erected in 1929.

This year, the organizers extend the fun for one day, welcoming to some special attractions. The audience will see new fairy tale performances, hear culture celebrities read stories, take part in music, DJ and art workshops, as well as a special urban game.

  • 11 am - 5 pm, Big Dwarf Village. The programme includes, e.g. building a dwarf city, making plaster dwarf casts, a dwarf photo booth, art workshops, and a busking zone with balloons and soap bubbles. Free admission.
  • 11 am - 5 pm A p resentation of dwarf fairy tales, prepared by the Theatre Gili Gili, founded by graduates of the Faculty of Puppetry of the Wroclaw branch of the National Academy of Theatre Arts. This year, the organizers welcome to three performances, including two premières - adaptations of fairy tales, awarded in the competition for the story on Wroclaw dwarfs:
  • 5 pm Closing of the second day of the festival.

European Mobility Week

The European Mobility Week is celebrated throughout Europe from 16 to 22 September. This year, it is entitled "Intelligent Transport, Strong Economy." Join the celebration and support the promotion of alternative transport. On this occasion, for the entire week Wroclaw will encourage everyone to change to green means of transport.

Explore the backstage of MPK, take part in a lecture

On 17 September, scheduled is the Open Door Day of MPK Wroclaw, with a lecture. All interested can take part in a lecture by Dr. Maciej Kruszyna, entitled "Urban Rail in Poland." It will be held on Saturday at 9 am in the building C-7 of the Technical University of Wroclaw, pl. Grunwaldzki 11, room 102.

Wroclaw House of Literature. The opening weekend

September 17-18, 11 am - 8.30 pm, Proza Club, Przejście Garncarskie 2, free admission

The organizers welcome to the literary and musical club PROZA for the opening weekend. The programme was prepared in cooperation with the Radio Trójka. There will be a series of meetings with authors, hosted by Michał Nogaś (Radio Trójka), and Prof. Stanisław Bereś. It will be an opportunity to talk about books, both the known ones, and the premièring, with: Artur Andrus, Elżbieta Cherezińska, Anna Janko, Magdalena Parys, Filip Springer and Piotr Siemion. On Saturday morning, a visit to the club PROSE is worthwhile, for an exceptional, novel-inspired literary buffet breakfast.

Humanitarium welcomes to its Garden of Experiments for the Great Science Picnic. Visitors can expect a lot of attractions, including the programme "Tauron's Fuses. Switch On For Your Child," and a demonstration of emergency power crews, and a performance by the Bajkobus Puppet Theatre. In addition, you will be able to see the new interactive exhibition in Humanitarium, "Renewable Energy Sources," at a discount price of 10 PLN/person, and take part in a free lab workshop.

EcoMarket (EkoBazar) is a new initiative that allows buying directly from farmers and sellers of certified organic foods: whole wheat or gluten-free bread, seasonal vegetables and fruits, juices, milk and organic specialties, pickles, health dairy products, organic meat, fish and meats, olive oil, honey, coffee and tea, pastries, delicious desserts and many more. On Saturday, September 17, an event is scheduled, "Baking proziaki on EkoBazar." This delicacy from the Podkarpacie region can be found at the stand EKO Kieltyk Bakery, where these fragrant rolls will be baked for the first half of the day (until approx. 12-1 pm).

"The History of a Church" - a multimedia presentation at the Ethnographic Museum

This wonderful building, located in the centre of the capital of Lower Silesia, is impressive not only in terms of architecture, revealing an interesting adaptation of a Gothic church to the needs of Orthodox believers. It is also an example of how the Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox have intertwined over the centuries. The unique atmosphere of the temple will be presented in the form of a multimedia presentation and a story about its rich and varied history.

Sztuka #tuiteraz, i.e. a picnic on the street in ul. Kazimierza Wielkiego

On Sunday, part of ul. Kazimierza Wielkiego (towards ul. Krupnicza, between ul. Szewska, ul. Świdnicka and ul. Leszczynskiego) will be closed for vehicle traffic and turned into a green meadow. All this to allow the relaxation of the residents of Wroclaw, and to encourage learning the difficult art of being here and now (#tuiteraz). You can eat breakfast in the middle of the street, taken over by nature, take the Sensory Path of Health, as a reference to the happenings of the Orange Alternative, which were organized here earlier, and create your own manifesto here and now - a slogan that will accompany us in the future.

An exhibition presenting the collection of Joachim Wagener at the Royal Palace in Wroclaw is a special event, as the National Gallery in Berlin rarely leases its paintings abroad. However, Wroclaw will host as many as 67 works, selected from the entire collection. With this exhibition, the Polish audience will be able to see the nineteenth century European paintings, as demonstrated by a part of the collection considered one of the most important in the world for this period in art. Among the works presented in Wroclaw are paintings by, e.g.: Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Gustav Grunewald, Peter von Cornelius, Theodor Gudin, Domenico Quaglio, Givanni Migliar and many others.
