The European Coalition of Cities against Racism is a UNESCO initiative established in 2004. It includes, among others, Berlin, Brussels, London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona and Athens. The city authorities want Wroclaw to join this group, too.
By acceding to the Coalition, Wroclaw undertakes to implement gradually the 10-point action plan and submit a work progress report every two years.
The plan assumes, e.g., greater vigilance against racism, better support for the victims of racism and discrimination, challenging racism and discrimination through education and promoting cultural diversity.
‘Co-operation within the coalition is a good opportunity to look at the best solutions,’ stresses Jan Wais, the deputy director of the Foreign Co-operation Office of the Wroclaw City Office.
