Because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s record will be held not at the Wroclaw Market Square, but online. Although guitarists cannot meet in one place organically, this solution will also open new possibilities – anyone can play, regardless of where they are.
This year’s Record will have another exceptional accent: guitarists will pay special tribute to medical personnel around the world.
How to play at the Record
Just a few chords
All you need is a guitar or any other string instrument (ukulele, mandolins, banjo and balalaikas) and a knowledge of five basic chords: C/G/D/A/E. On Friday 1st May, you have to report your participation by sending an e-mail to: [email protected] and enclosing a participation card (to be downloaded from the website of the Record).
The title of the mail should contain ‘Gramy!’ [Let>>'<
The organisers stress that participation should not be reported before 1st May.

Guitarists are encouraged to share pictures and videos on the preparation of the event on social media channels. The best videos will be featured in the clip of the World Guitar Record Online 2020.
Record Breaker’s Certificate
After the record, everyone will receive a certificate in electronic (which you can print upon entering your data) or printed form (which you can collect in the Stary Klasztor club at ul. Purkyniego 1 until the end of 2020).
How the Guitar Guinness Record started
This year’s event will be the 18th meeting of guitarists in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. In 2003, they played Hey Joe together for the first time as Great Guitar Orchestra; 588 guitarists gathered on the Wroclaw Market Square at that time. We broke the record. In 2019, 7,424 enthusiasts of the six-string instrument joined forces and the record was defended once again. What counts most this year, is to play together. And to set a world guitar record.
