We have a few ideas for partners who would like to go out somewhere on the last night of the year, but they cannot bring their child along.
Grandma or nanny
Those who can entrust their children to their grandmother, grandfather or aunt are in the best situation. They can have a good time without worrying if their child is safe. But if your relatives have their own plans for this special evening, too, or are simply far away, you must consider other solutions.
On the Internet forums, you can find advertisements of persons offering their help in taking care of children on the last night of the year. However, we advise you not to risk entrusting your child to an accidental and often inexperienced person and to hire a professional nanny instead.
Małgorzata Bałdynowicz-Włoch, the owner of the Wroclaw nannies’ agency CiociaNiania, admits that her company provides services to tourists more frequently than to local inhabitants, and more often during the year than on New Year’s Eve.
"The demand is quite large, but parents from Wroclaw arrange leaving their children under care at a very early date when they plan to go out on New Year's Eve. Our rate per one hour of work of a professional nanny on New Year’s Eve begins from 25 PLN per hour. But the price depends on the number of hours, children, location (whether you have to go beyond the city or not) and tasks", she says. "Parents have very different requirements. A nanny can take care of their children in their house, in a hotel, or in her own flat. The length of care is also flexible – we adapt to parents’ needs", she adds.
New Year’s Eve for children
If your child is older, New Year’s Eve balls for children organised in entertainment centres, private kindergartens and similar institutions seem to be a more attractive solution. Apart from various games and other attractions, such offers include all-night care, meals and accommodation, but there are few of them.

Family evening
Of course, you can welcome the New Year also in a family environment. Do not expect that children will take care of themselves (we mean children aged 5-12) while we will be having a great time. If you decide to have a home party with children, be prepared for spending time with them. You can invite your friends or relatives with children, because children have a better time and engage adults less intensively when playing in a group. They can also bring their own games and toys to make the party even better.
It is an great opportunity to dust off some forgotten board games and have a New Year’s Eve game marathon. All kinds of party games, such as word puns or karaoke, are also excellent on that occasion. This is the offer for older children. Little children love movement, so it takes little to make them dance. You can plan a home party in carnival dresses, including face painting and a dance contest. After Happy New Year wishes and fireworks at midnight, there will be time for sleep; from that moment on, the real party for adults begins.
