Parents of the baby tortoises from Wroclaw come from a large group of several thousand tortoises confiscated from traffickers in 2001 in Hong Kong. Thanks to the joint action taken by the zoos of the world, the rescued reptiles went to zoos in Europe, USA and Australia, including the Wroclaw zoo. Apparently, Wroclaw tortoises effectively help save their species.
