‘Trees in a road lane need to be able to withstand tough conditions, so we opt for battle-tested varieties. However, where the living conditions are safe for other trees, Japanese pagoda trees and Douglas firs will appear,’ says Krzysztof Świercz from Wrocławskie Inwestycje.
For this last species, sites outside the road lane are chosen, for example, in the park or in the vicinity of the existing conifers.

Douglas firs can grow to enormous sizes. Helena – a Douglas fir growing in the Bardzkie Mountains near Bard Śląski – is considered to be the tallest tree in Poland. It measures 59.4 metres in height and is a natural monument.
