The motion put forward by Modest Aniszczyk was voted on by 31 councillors. One person abstained from vote. "I took part in the Wroclaw meeting in 1995, in Warsaw at the turn on 1999 and 2000, and we also went on a honeymoon to Taizé," say Modes Aniszczyk. "I've been dreaming to organise such a meeting again to make us stop and think for a moment," he adds.
The idea resounded with Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz. "Archbishop Józef Kupny thinks it is worth pursuing the idea. A similar opinion has been expressed by Bishop Ryszard Bogusz, who represents Wroclaw's Protestant community," says Rafał Kowalski, Spokesman for the Archbishop of Wroclaw, and he adds that the bishops will send an invitation to the Abbot of the Taizé Community once the relevant decision has been made by the City Council.
Wroclaw has organised the European Youth Meeting twice already: in 1989 and 1995. The only cities to organise the meeting more often include: Paris (5), Rome (4) and Barcelona (3). The next edition of the European Youth Meeting will take place from 29 December 2014 to 2 January 2015 in Prague.
