Renovation of the Jagiełły/Dmowskiego intersection has started. Big changes

The intersection at ul. Jagiełły/Dmowskiego/Mieszczańska has been under repair since 24th April. Building works will last till the end of October. Many changes have been introduced in traffic and transport schemes.

The rebuilding of the intersection is aimed at repairing the pavement and tram trackage, which is in poor condition.

One of the bigger changes will be the fourth lane at ul. Dmowskiego, on the roadway from ul. Długa. After rebuilding, a new left turn island will allow drivers to turn towards the Kosynierka Hall and new blocks of flats.

Tram and bus stops will be rebuilt. New lighting and traffic lights will be installed, and trees will be planted.

Changes for drivers

Drivers going from ul. Długa towards the centre will ride from ul. Dmowskiego and then down ul. Księcia Witolda, which is a one-way street along the section to the intersection with ul. Jagiełły and Mostowa. At the intersection, they can turn left towards Jagiełły and Dubois, go straight or turn right into ul. Mostowa and Podwale towards Plac Jana Pawła II.

From Plac Jana Pawła II towards ul. Długa or Kępa Mieszczańska, they will ride down ul. Jagiełły towards  Mieszczańskie bridges, and then they have to turn around and ride over to the lanes towards ul. Dmowskiego and Mieszczańska.

Drivers riding from ul. Dubois towards Plac Jana Pawła II have to go towards the Most Dmowskiego bridge. There they have to turn around (ride over to the southern lane) and enter ul. Księcia Witolda, from which they can, for example, turn right towards Plac Jana Pawła II.

Changes for passengers

The routes of tram lines 15, 70 and 74 and bus lines C, 103, 104, 128, 144 and 250 will change.

Trams no. 15 and 74 from Poświętne or Osobowice will ride from Plac Staszica through Plac Powstańców Wielkopolskich, Drobnera, Kazimierza Wielkiego and Sadowa to Plac Legionów. In the reverse direction, they will run through ul. Szewska and the Most Uniwersytecki bridge to Plac Staszica. The tram line 74 will be shortened to the “FAT” stop.

Trams no. 70 will run in both directions on the route: Osobowice – Dworzec Nadodrze [Nadodrze Railway Station] - Plac Grunwaldzki - Plac Wróblewskiego - Dworzec Główny PKP [Main Railway Station] – Piłsudskiego – Powstańców Śląskich – FAT.

Buses no. C and 120 from ul. Długa towards ul. Bema will run from ul. Dmowskiego through ul. Księcia Witolda and Jagiełły to the Most Mieszczański bridge, and their route in the reverse direction does not change.

The bus line 144 from Polanowice will run through Most Uniwersytecki, ul. Grodzka and św. Mikołaja to Plac Jana Pawła II. In the reverse direction, the route will not change.

The bus line 250 will run from ul. Dubois through ul. Dmowskiego, where it will turn back in front of the Most Dmowski bridge into ul. Księcia Witolda and enter its route through the Most Sikorskiego bridge.

Kępa Mieszczańska will be “supported” also by bus lines 103 and 104 running from ul. Długa through ul. Księcia Witolda and Most Sikorskiego to Plac Jana Pawła II.
