Such an operation requires much strength. No wonder, then, that almost all members of the terrarium staff participated in it. It was necessary to stretch the long body of the snake gently but firmly in order to measure it accurately. On that occasion, the general condition of the reptile was checked, too. Even though our Wroclaw python seems gigantic to us, it has reached only half of its maximum possible length. This species can reach 10 metres in length and much above 100 kg in weight. It is one of the biggest snake species. The biggest specimen was found on the island of Celebes; it measured 9.76 m and weighed 160 kg. Now we can only wish further healthy growth to our Wroclaw reptile.
