For the first time, the Wroclaw Archdiocese Caritas started a campaign that invites us to find a Gift of Mercy in ourselves. ‘We have prepared paper bags that will help not only the poorest, but also us,’ says Rev. Dariusz Amrogowicz, Director of Caritas Wroclaw.‘In the Year of Mercy, we try to rediscover the sense of works of mercy. One of them is to ‘feed the hungry.’ How to do this today? This campaign will make things easier for us,' said Archbishop Józef Kupny. ‘The needy, the poor and our attitude to them verify our humanity and Christianity,’ added the hierarch.
An “operating manual” of the campaign has been placed on each of several thousand bags. Firstly, we should get a bag. Secondly, we should fill it with the most necessary food products. And, thirdly, we should submit this bag in our own parish or in Caritas’ office. ‘In the first place, we want to support the needy during the Easter period, but we also want to arouse social sensitivity and encourage everyone to help the needy together,’ stressed Paweł Trawka from Caritas.
Ambassadors of the campaign are: Archbishop Józef Kupny – Metropolitan Bishop of Wroclaw, Anna Szarycz – Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw, Paweł Hreniak – Head of the Lower Silesia Province, and Cezary Przybylski – Marshal of the Lower Silesia Province.
‘I think that every Wroclaw inhabitant is able to share things with others,’ says Anna Szarycz, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw. ‘This campaign will certainly attract people of good heart – it’s an excellent opportunity for us to show interhuman solidarity, not to be anonymous and to create a community. Everybody is the winner here, no matter whether you are the receiver or the giver.
Paper bags of the campaign are available in Caritas’ parish teams and in Caritas’ office at ul. Katedralna.
