Foreigners from outside the EU can count on free support

Legal and professional advice and help in filling in residence applications – these are only some forms of support offered in Wroclaw to foreigners from outside the EU. They can receive it in the Office for Support of Third Country Citizens in the Lower Silesian Provincial Office.

The Office for Support of Third Country Citizens offers support to foreigners coming from countries other than EU Member States who live in Lower Silesia. They can visit the information & consultancy point, where they count on help in filling in residence or work permit forms and in compile a full set of required documents. They can also obtain legal advice on social security benefits, establishing a company, registering a car or renting an apartment and learn what to do if there is a problem with receiving a payment.  They can also rely on support from employment advice workers, who will tell how to plan a career path and to find relevant job offers.  They will also help to compile a full set of application documents and to prepare for an interview.

So that documents would be complete

‘Most of our foreign visitors want to obtain information about the possibility of legalising their stay or help in completing residence documents and compiling a full set of attachments,’ says Paulina Muchla from the Office for Support of Third Country Citizens in the Lower Silesian Provincial Office. ‘Thanks to free consultations, they can be sure that the application will be correctly filled in and complete. This will help to avoid the need to supplement “formal defects”, which often prolongs the procedure.

A large number of foreigners are also willing to have their documents translated free of charge, including birth certificates, marriage certificates, court decisions and diplomas that can be useful in searching for a job. Free legal advice is also very popular among this group.

Only till the end of October

‘We have already provided support to more than 8,000 persons,’ says Paulina Muchla. ‘A vast majority of our customers are Ukrainians. We are also visited by citizens of Belarus, Russia, USA and South American countries and – from 2021 – Great Britain. Our activities are scheduled till the end of October.

Support for third-country citizens residing in Lower Silesia is offered under the project ‘Integration, adaptation, acceptance. Support for third-country citizens residing in Lower Silesia’, which is carried out in partnership with the Ukraina Foundation. Funds for this purpose are provided, e.g., from the National Program of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the state budget.

The information & consultancy point in the Lower Silesian Provincial Office in Wroclaw and in branches in Wałbrzych and Legnica is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m.
