For Prinscah, who came here all the way from Uganda, Wroclaw is her first European city, and she also simply likes it here. Saroti is from Thailand and she came to Wroclaw to study at the Biotechnology Department, which is known for its high quality, while Yucel from Turkey has seen the city before and wanted to come back. Foreign students can now be seen in short and perfectly made videos in which they explain why they chose to live in Wroclaw and study at the local university. They are very persuasive in the way they talk about their daily lives, their friends and university. Both Wroclaw and the university have been captured beautifully as historic and intriguing places. You can see the film HERE.
"We have selected people who want to share their positive experiences of Wroclaw. NObody told them what to say, they speak freely and openly, which only adds to the genuine qualities of the film", says Andrzej Ostrowski, PhD, Head of the Office for the Promotion of the University of Wroclaw.
The University of Wroclaw has ca. 1,000 full-time foreign students, whereas another 500 study in Wroclaw as part of various student exchange programmes. The majority of them come from the East. Andrzej Ostrowski: "The videos are distributed on the Internet mainly by social networking sites and other channels". They feature students from Asia, Africa, Turkey, Russia and Western Europe, including Germany and Norway. The university targets its promotional campaign to the East: Russia, India, China, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. "We are also planning to make our presence felt in Great Britain or Germany to reach their Polish migrant communities", says Andrzej Ostrowski.
