  3. Festive Wrocław: Christmas Market in the city and new local events

Every year, the capital of Lower Silesia turns into a realm of Christmas magic, and the Wrocław Christmas Market is at the heart of the celebrations. This year, in addition to the main fair in the Market Square and surrounding streets, you can also attend smaller, local events in various parts of the city. This allows residents and visitors alike to explore the festive Wrocław and discover its many facets - from the bustling city centre to more intimate, neighbourhood gatherings.

The Wroclaw Christmas Market will open on 21th of November and will run until the 7th of January 2025.

‘Last year, the Wrocław Christmas Market saw more than 800,000 visitors and was advertised by major newspapers, including The Guardian and the Daily Mail. This year, the Christmas magic will also spread to other parts of the city, including Leśnica and Partynice, as well as smaller streets in the vicinity of the city centre - Św. Antoniego and Wita Stwosza - to enable residents to develop their communities and build neighbourly ties,’ says Katarzyna Szymczak-Pomianowska, Director of the Department of Strategy and Sustainable Development at Wrocław City Hall.

‘Local markets will also be an attractive alternative for those who do not want or cannot make the trip to the city centre, but want to feel the festive atmosphere closer to home.’

Fairs in Wrocław - dates and locations

  • Wrocław Christmas Market

21 November 2025 - 7 January 2026, Market Square, Świdnicka Street, Oławska Street, Salt Square.

This is the 18th edition of one of the most famous winter events in Poland and Europe. The Wrocław Christmas Market, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, will once again fill the Market Square with the scent of spices, the sound of carols and the colourful lights of thousands of decorations.

In 2025, the Christmas Market will grow and spread - new booths will be set up not just in the Market Square, Salt Square and Oławska Street, but also on Świdnicka Street, from the underpass all the way to the Monopol Hotel building.

The plan envisages some 260 booths, which will offer arts and crafts, Christmas ornaments, regional delicacies and dishes from all over the world.

This year's edition also features some novelties. On Oławska Street, you will see a new gate welcoming the visitors with the illuminated “Welcome to the Christmas Market” sign, and a new reindeer rollerocoaster will be set up in the Fairy Tale Forest. A merry-go-round in the shape of a Christmas tree will also be set up on the northern frontage of the Market Square, with gondolas resembling shiny baubles.

The youngest visitors will enjoy meetings with Santa Claus, animations and performances, and the Christmas Market stage will feature numerous musical performances and shows.

The Christmas Market is all about meetings and joint celebrations - it is the perfect place to sip hot chocolate, sample Christmas treats and find a special gift to put under the Christmas tree.

  • Enchanted Fair under the Leśnica Castle

13-21 December 2025, Świętojański Square

Christmas magic will also spread to Leśnica. An atmospheric Enchanted Fair under the Castle will be set up near the famous Castle, combining local character with the tradition of a Christmas gathering.

The exhibitors will showcase regional products, highland delicacies, cheeses, cured meats, baked goods and aromatic drinks in wooden huts. There will be meetings with Santa Claus and Christmas workshops for the youngest visitors. The event will be an opportunity to spend time in a friendly, neighbourhood atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • Ręki Dzieła Fest

5-7 December and 19-21 December 2025, Wita Stwosza Street / Szewska Street

A unique space for creators and lovers of beautiful things. The Ręki Dzieła Fest will showcase the work of local artists and craftspeople - from jewellery, ceramics and ornaments to textiles and unique gifts.

The event programme also features creative workshops where visitors will be able to make their own Christmas ornaments, decorations and small gifts. The atmospheric setting, lights and music will create a warm, artistic atmosphere in the heart of the city.

  • Christmas on Antoniego Street – Mulled Wine Festival

All December weekends, Św. Antoniego Street

The December weekends on Św. Antoniego Street will smell like aromatic mulled wine. The Mulled Wine Festival is gaining popularity among the residents of Wrocław with every passing year.

The street will be transformed into a festive walkway, filled with the flavours and smells of winter beverages, music and small market booths. It will be a perfect place to take an evening stroll, meet friends and celebrate in a unique festive atmosphere.

  • Kraina Koni Fair - Partynice

6-21 December 2025, Partynice Racecourse

A new event held this year is the Kraina Koni Fair, which will be held at the Wrocław Racecourse in Partynice.

This is a unique offering for families with children, combining a festive atmosphere with a love of animals and nature. The programme will feature pony rides, a tour of the stables, a gingerbread-making workshop, Santa's House and a communal Christmas table and amusement park.

  • Christmas Market at MARINA KLECZKÓW

28 November - 24 December

The Kleczków Marina will be transformed into a fairytale Christmas village by the river, featuring a forest of Christmas trees on the beach, a heated tent with concerts and carols, Christmas movies, workshops, Santa Claus day and bonfires. The initiative - a fair open to all - is organised by Marina Kleczków, supported by Vertigo Jazz Club & Restaurant.

Wroclaw Christmas Market: Celebrating safely

The city is preparing for the season not only when it comes to attractions, but also in terms of organisation and logistics. We recommend taking advantage of the public transit offer, which will be adapted to the increased traffic in the city centre. Municipal authorities will ensure the order and safety of residents and visitors alike, including by increased police and municipal police presence in sensitive areas.

The area of the Wrocław Christmas Market in the Market Square will be secured with concrete barriers to ensure safety for pedestrians in the area. Dozens of concrete bollards will be installed on pedestrian walkways at six locations:

  • Świdnicka/Modrzejewskiej Street
  • Oławska/Kazimierza Wielkiego Street
  • Św. Mikołaja/Kiełbaśnicza Street
  • Ruska/Rzeźnicza Street
  • Salt Square/Gepperta Street
  • Oławska/Szewska Street

The officers will make sure that traffic is not blocked in the Market Square area.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can speak directly to the municipal police officers, including at the headquarters at Sukiennice 12.

If a child or elderly person goes missing, report their disappearance immediately to the municipal police.

‘The fair is first and foremost an opportunity to have fun, but fun should not preclude safety. With such a large event and so many participants, there are times when a child or elderly person goes missing. It is therefore a good idea for children to know the names and telephone numbers of their guardians, or to give them such information on a piece of paper,’ suggests Assistant Commissioner Aleksandra Freus of the Wrocław Police.

Piotr Szereda, Head of the Misdemeanours Department with the Wrocław Municipal Police: ‘The entire Christmas Market is covered by CCTV cameras, which will be watched by municipal police at all times.

Safety will also be ensured by the police, who will direct traffic if necessary. The authorities are urging caution and encourage visitors to take care of each other, especially children. In emergency situations, call 112.

Public transport to the Christmas Market

To avoid traffic jams and the stress of searching for limited parking spaces in the city centre, the city authorities are encouraging visitors to leave their cars at home and choose public transit instead.

‘Public transit is the best way to get to the Christmas Market. The spots around the Market Square, including Świdnicka Street and Dominikański Square, are a major hotspot with over a dozen tram lines running there,’ says Dawid Barabasz, Deputy Head of the Transport Department at Wrocław City Hall.

Visitors going to the Wrocław Christmas Market do not have to get off at the Rynek tram stop - you can also choose other stops, including

  • Zamkowa,
  • Świdnicka,
  • Oławska,
  • Galeria Dominikańska,
  • Uniwersytet Wrocławski.

You can get to the Market in a couple of minutes from there.

Importantly, Galeria Dominikańska also serves as a stop for metropolitan bus lines, which provide direct access to the Market Square for residents of neighbouring municipalities.

The network of regular lines in Wrocław is well-developed and provides seamless access to the city centre from many directions by tram and bus - including metropolitan buses (lines 9xx).

Daniel Misiek, spokesman for MPK Wrocław: ‘The Christmas Market is an iconic event. We expect residents and visitors from outside Wrocław to visit it in droves. The area around the Market Square and other places where festivities are planned can be reached most quickly and conveniently by public transit.

For example, tram line 7 will take you from the northern part of Wrocław to the Market Square in less than 19 minutes. From Leśnica, it will take you about 30 minutes to get to the centre via tram lines 3 and 10.

Fairs in Wrocław: Do not drive to the centre - use Park&Ride

The number of parking spaces in the city centre is limited. To avoid stress, you can use one of the 36 Park&Ride car parks, which offer a total of 2808 parking spaces.

You can use some of these car parks during the week with at least a 24-hour ticket, but on the weekends during the Christmas Market the barriers will be left up and they can be used free of charge from 4:00 p.m. on Fridays until 5:00 a.m. on Mondays.

Park & Ride car parks in Wrocław are located close to public transit stops, from which you can get directly to the Christmas Market.
