All Wroclaw fountains will stop gushing out water by the end of the week. They will not operate till 1st April 2016. The season when fountains operate begins on 1st April and ends on 31st October.
‘Please remember that these dates are only provisional,’ reserves Ewa Mazur, spokeswoman for the Administration of Roads and City Maintenance (ARCM). ‘There are years when we decide to prolong or shorten this period. Two years ago, when snow lay almost till the middle of April, fountains were turned on at a later date. This year, when spring was quite warm, fountains began to operate on the last weekend of March,’ she adds.
On the occasion of the end of the season, the Fencer’s sculpture from the fountain at Plac Uniwersytecki will be disassembled and subjected to renovation and conservation works, which will last two or three months.
For the maintenance of nine municipal fountains and the Zdrój water intake at ul. Świdnicka, the ARCM paid more than 830,000 PLN in the 2015 season.
