From 1 September 2015 it will no longer be possible to record events of births, marriages and deaths in the municipal electronic database of civil status certificates. No copies of civil status certificates will be issued from it neither.
From 1 September 2015, registration of births, marriages and deaths will be possible only in the Registry of Civil Status and only from this register the copies of civil status certificates may be issued. For persons registering newborns, this means longer waiting time at the registration of the child, by 30-40 minutes. At the same time, a new convenience will be simultaneously assigning the child a Social Security number and registering its residence at the head of the USC (Registry Office).
Those coming to register death must be aware that the time needed to settle the matter will be longer by 40 minutes.
For those whose civil status has not yet been transferred to the Civil Status Register, a new way of issuing copies of civil status certificates means a change in the application procedure and a longer waiting time for issuing such a document.
Under the new regulations, if an application for a copy of the marital status certificate will be submitted to the head of the USC where the certificate was drawn up, a copy will be issued within 7 working days.
If an application for a copy of the marital status certificate will be submitted to the head of the USC where the certificate was not drawn up, a copy will be issued within 10 working days.
A new convenience for citizens is allowing the request for a copy of a civil status certificate to be submitted and picked up at any Registry Office in Poland. Once transferred to the Civil Status Registry, a civil status certificate will be available in each branch in the country.
