The building at Pl. Wolności 10 stood empty and gradually fell to ruin for many years. In the past, Reichsbank – the central bank of the German Reich – had an office there, and then the building was owned by BZ WBK bank. Now a luxury hotel will be established there, which can successfully compete with the Monopol hotel on the other side of the square.
The investment is managed by K2 Konwent Kocwa. Last month the company signed a contract with the Marriott chain for the opening of AC Hotel by Marriott – the first hotel of this kind in Poland – in the historic tenement house.
’It is a more lifestyle brand than widely known Marriott. We have successfully introduced hotels of this kind in a few European countries, the USA and Canada. Now it will be opened in Poland,’ explains Maciej Knyrek, General Manager of AC Hotel by Marriott Wroclaw.
At the moment, the facade of the building is fully renovated. It looks great both during the day and at night and the finely reconstructed architectural details are really impressive. The investor also decided to add two storeys. Now window frames are being replaced and preparations are being made for an interior finish.
’From the beginning of the year, we will prepare interior finish designs and then we will carry out the investment. The model room should be ready by spring. Our aim is to reach the 4-star, or 4.5-star standard,’ says Maciej Knyrek.
The luxury hotel should be opened at the end of 2016, or at the beginning of 2017. It will employ around 50 people.
