Robots to replace humans in Wroclaw airport

On Friday, Wroclaw airport carried out the first test of the robot which speaks foreign languages, knows rules of etiquette and is communicative. If it proves itself, soon another robo-colleague will join it. Ultimately, passenger service in Wroclaw Airport will be fully robotic.

The robot's name is EuGenius. It was designed specifically to work in customer service. Therefore, not only does he speak and answer questions, but also efficiently moves passengers and perfectly fulfils the role of a passenger service agent. It can interact quickly, which is necessary at the airport. As a result, travellers come in contact with it in a natural way.

'On Friday, we conducted the first tests. If the robot proves itself, soon more robots will join it. We are improving service standards at our airport constantly. Ultimately, it will be entirely robotic, and in the future artificial intelligence will replace me as president, says Dariusz Kuś, president of Wroclaw Airport.

What did EuGenius the robot start working from at the Wroclaw airport? It greeted passengers and informed them about the new timetable (more than 60 connections). It also talked about travelling by plane. As part of familiarizing itself with airport procedures, it went through the entire path, which the passengers take: it was first in the entrance hall, then underwent a security check, and finally appeared in the departure hall.

New employee of Wroclaw airport is 1.5 metres tall and weighs 60 kilograms. It has a built-in computer and more than 20 drives. EuGenius was designed by General Robotics operating in Wroclaw Technology Park. A similar robot is already working at the Museum of Japanese Art and Technology "Manggha" in Krakow.
