
MAGICAL KLECZKÓW – Wroclaw – entrance from the backyard

Kleczków is a housing estate that has been slightly forgotten by culture, but it has a huge social potential. It is the place where the artist Kamila Szczęsna grew up and where she is carrying out her project ‘Urban Mutations,’ creating lamps of transparent resin that will be installed in corridors of tenement houses. INAUGURATION OF THE PROJECT The opening walk under the ‘Urban Mutations’ project will take place at ul. Kraszewskiego 26 at 7:00 pm. Participants will receive a shining surprise.

Concert: Lech Janerka on Ostrów Tumski
1st October, 7:30 pm, the square near the Church of St. Martin, free entrance
Lech Janerka, an Wroclaw icon of Polish rock music, the leader of legendary Klaus Mitffoch band, known for his colourful 30-year-long solo career and distinctive lyrics, chose the square near the Church of St. Martin on Ostrów Tumski as a place of his performance. Because of the concert, some traffic changes will be introduced: from 1st October till 2nd October 2016, , ul. Świętego Macieja will be excluded from vehicular traffic till 7:00 a.m. and parking will be prohibited at ul. Świętokrzyska and at ul. Świętego Macieja in the area of the event from 30th September 2016.

Wroclaw multimedia fountain – special show
1st-2nd October, 8:30 pm, Pergola near the Centennial Hall, free entrance
The fountain is open in the spring-autumn season. At that time, shows are organised every day at full hours, with a music program presented in colour lights after dusk.

Masterpieces from Berlin at the Royal Palace

An exhibition presenting the collection of Joachim Wagener at the Royal Palace in Wroclaw is a special event, as the National Gallery in Berlin rarely leases its paintings abroad. However, Wroclaw will host as many as 67 works, selected from the entire collection. With this exhibition, the Polish audience will be able to see the nineteenth century European paintings, as demonstrated by a part of the collection considered one of the most important in the world for this period in art. Among the works presented in Wroclaw are paintings by, e.g.: Karl Friedrich Schinkel, Gustav Grunewald, Peter von Cornelius, Theodor Gudin, Domenico Quaglio, Givanni Migliar and many others. Final of the Santander Academy of Health in Park Południowy
2nd October, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, Park Południowy, the ground near the Agawa restaurant
The program will include, among others, charge-free attractions for all participants. A special play zone has been arranged for children, including an inflatable castle, face painting and many other animations, and older participants are invited to visit a health zone, where they can consult physiotherapeutists and measure their adipose tissue, pressure and BMI.
Not only sportspersons, but also beginners are invited to take part in races and Nordic walking events, so competitions will take place in various age classifications and distance. Participants will compete on 5 and 10 km long routes, and the distance for children will be 2.5 km (children not older than 10 are allowed to participate free of charge). At the final of the Santander Academy of Health, all money from registration fees for competitions will be donated to charity. A special guest of the event will be Olympic multimedialist Justyna Kowalczyk, who will grant cups to winners.

Jarmark Jadwiżański – Slavs and Vikings at the Leśnica Castle

Camps of armed Slavs and Vikings, fighting shows, presentations of medieval crafts, concerts of folk bands, historical lectures, workshops and competitions, a merchant fair with ecological products and artistic handicraft – these are the biggest attractions of Jarmark Jadwiżański [Jadwiżański Fair]. The leitmotif of this year’s fair will be the culture of Slavs and Vikings. For more information, see here.

Guitar Masters 2016: free concert of Cobario
2nd October, 5:00 pm, Session Hall of the Main Railway Station, free entrance
Already on 2nd October, as a warm-up before the Guitar Masters 2016 festival, the Austrian trio Cobario will perform world music on a top-class level. The band was founded in Barcelona in 2006 as a mutual musical project of two street players Rio Che and El Coba. After a few months, the guitar duo expanded into a trio after they moved to Vienna and were joined by the violinist Herwigos. Cobario’s repertoire is a real mixture of music genres and styles: flamenco, Gypsy, Slavic, Celtic, Asian and contemporary music. Entrance is free.
