Exhibition: "Europa od kuchni" ("Behind the Scenes of European Cooking")

From 3 June to 31 August, the Museum of Postal Service, on June 3-5 admission to the museum is free

Accompanying event of the festival Europe on the Fork. The exhibition will consist of two elements: a presentation of postage stamps from the series "Europa", dedicated to gastronomy, and photographs selected in the competition entitled "Tracing European Tastes", organized by the Museum and the Office of City Promotion and Tourism. 

100th birthday of Stefan Arczyński - exhibition

July 6-7, 10 am, City Museum of Wroclaw, Old Town Hall, tickets 10/15 PLN

The exhibition, organized by the City Museum of Wroclaw, on the hundredth birthday of Stefan Arczyński, is a tribute to the photographer himself, and a recognition of the impressive artistic achievements, unmatched by any in the history of Polish photography. The exhibition is open until September 18, 2016.

"The Assimetrical Lady": Exhibition of works by Witkacy

Exceptional pastels, photographs, fragments of letters of Witkiewicz, as well as complementary lectures, performances and film screenings - the organizers have prepared a series of events accompanying the exhibition, in the form of lectures, performances and film screenings. The exhibition will run for almost three months - from 6 August to 30 October.

Sighthseeing of the Capitol

Every Saturday in August, at 3 pm, the Musical Theatre Capitol is open for sightseeing for individual guests. A ticket for a tour of the Capitol costs 5 PLN and you can buy it at the box office as well as on-line. A tour of the theatre takes a little over an hour.

Petanque and karate in Południowy Park

August 6-7, 3 - 5 pm, Poludniowy Park - the clearing by the white ECC container, near the restaurant "Agawa", free admission.

At 5 pm, a class in sports aerobic is scheduled, as part of the programme "Train With the World Games Champion". The leader will be Jolanta Sobieraj, recommended by the Wrocław University of Physical Education. You can bring your own mat, though 20 mats were prepared, just in case.

Reminiscence of a Love Feast - an exhibition of fashion and photography

August 6, 6 pm (opening), until 18 September, the Pan Tadeusz Museum, Rynek 6, free admission

The exhibition "Reminiscence of a Love Feast" is a multi-layered presentation - in the arranged space you can see original wedding dresses from the communist era and archival photographs from the collection of Anna Straszewska and Zuzanna Żubka-Chmielewska, as well as from private albums of the residents of Lower Silesia. Visitors can listen to stories, collected by journalist Beata Kwiatkowska, of people from across Poland who recall the emotions and events related to their weddings.

Cosmic Summer Holidays at Loopy’s World

13–14 August, Loopy's World. Family entertainment centre, ul Czekoladowa 20, Bielany Wroclawskie

The participants are setting out this weekend to explore space in search of a planet by the name of Loopy’s, or a place of unearthly entertainment. The children are in fact going to walk the third planet from the Sun, but the organisers are able to guarantee a wealth of attractions. All attractions are included in the price. Adult carers as well as children under 1 year and over 13 years of age are admitted free of charge.

Oleśnica Circus Art Festival

12–14 August, Oleśnica, various locations

Over 40 different circus art shows weaved into Wroclaw's urban fabric, a grand pyrotechnical show, a colourful parade, Olympic games in juggling, tapes spanning the beautiful and historic Market Square and one of the most beautiful Piast castles in Poland. All the attractions are brought to you as part of the European Capital of Culture programme.

Lower Silesia Mystery Festival at Książ Castle

13–14 August, Książ Castle in Wałbrzych

This year's edition of the Lower Silesia Mystery Festival is its fourth and starts on 13 August at 10 am. This time round the focus is on the Golden Train and the topics related to the exploration of Lower Silesia's palaces and castles and unique episodes in their history. The organisers will also tell you more about incredibly precious deposits that are yet to be discovered.

Tickets range from 16 to 27 PLN.

Żywiec Miejskie Granie - Daniel Bloom

13 August, 8 pm, plac Społeczny Przestrzeń Kreatywna, admission free

Daniel Bloom is an electronic and film music producer. He has achieved recognition with soundtracks to Jacek Borcuch's films, including "All That I Love", "Lasting" or "Tulips" (recorded with Leszek Możdżer, both artists were nominated to the Eagles Polish Film Awards). For years, he has collaborated with Józef Skrzek, Steven Schroyder (formerly Tangerine Dream) and Władysław Komendarek as part of Ricochet Gathering, an international improvised music project.

Street Theatre Festival

Wroclaw Multimedia Fountain: Two Special Shows

The fountain operates in spring, summer and autumn. The shows are held daily, at full hours, and are accompanied by music and colourful illumination after dark.

Wroclaw Night with the Perseids

Feel free to join the Wroclaw Society of Astronomy Enthusiasts to watch the Perseids together and all the other related phenomena. Please remember to take a sleeping mat or blanket with you. Thy will certainly come in handy during our night-long astronomical vigil.

Škoda Wroclaw Bike Challenge

14 August, 8 am, Wroclaw Stadium, Aleja Śląska 1, tickets from 30 to 99 PLN.

This time round the Wroclaw Stadium plays host to a tournament that gathers professional cyclists, fit amateurs, recreational cyclists and children. Everyone can join the competition. There are four routes available: 120 km for those with the stamina, 40 km for fit amateurs, 14 km for families and recreational cyclists and 5 km of cycling adventure for children. ŠKODA Wrocław Bike Challenge is taking the city on 14 August, the Wroclaw Stadium becoming the cycling capital of Poland on the day. The tournament will be accompanied by numerous attractions.

Active August in the Wroclaw Stadium

Curio Cabinet at the Architecture Museum

from 14 August, Architecture Museum, ul Bernardyńska 5

In the 16th and 17th centuries, royalty and aristocracy followed a fad to collect curios and rarities, including artworks, freaks of nature or souvenirs from overseas. They were usually preserved is special rooms called curio cabinets. This year's summer holidays were just the time for the workshop organisers and the curators to encourage children to create such as a cabinet full of curios and freaks of nature. Their works are on display until Sunday 14 August.

Family Picnic in Słodowa Island

This is yet another Sunday in Słodowa Island that you can join us to engage in a game of checkers or any other board game or simply relax, meditate or enjoy healthy cuisine. Summer at the Synagogue – Mendy Cahan

The festival brings a series of musical encounters to showcase the rich legacy of Jewish music in Europe. This year's edition is focused on songs in Yiddish and Ladino.
