  3. Michelin Guide recommends Wroclaw. We are among the 16 cities with the best cuisine!

Not a single restaurant in Wroclaw may have a Michelin star (yet!), but last year we made our debut in the Michelin Guide in grand style (as many as 22 of our restaurants were recognised!). We must have made a really big impression, because the editor of the Michelin Guide recommends Wroclaw as one of 16 places in the world ideal for lovers of good food! Below are the details of the ranking.

In the text 'The Best Places to Travel in 2026 for Food Lovers: 16 Must-Visit Destinations', Michelin Guide editor Rooksana Hossenally has selected 16 destinations, both those well-known to culinary and travel enthusiasts (including Venice, the Amalfi Coast and the American South) and those that are worth discovering now.

Wroclaw – a city to visit and eat in

Among the places to visit and explore are cities in the Philippines, China’s Jiangsu Province, Turkey's Cappadocia and... Wroclaw!

Why, according to Hossenally, is Wroclaw a must-visit place? ‘The Central European culinary city is stepping out of the shadows,’ she writes. The author recalls that in last year's Michelin Guide, 22 Wroclaw restaurants joined the family of culinary destinations, and as many as three of them received Bib Gourmand awards.

A city far from the beaten track with a culinary tradition

The editor of the Michelin Guide emphasises that Wroclaw has become a culinary attraction due to the high quality of local Polish cuisine.

‘Wroclaw’s young and ambitious chefs reinterpret Silesian culinary traditions (including pierogi and venison) with modern precision,’ she writes.

The author recalled that Wroclaw, a city far from the beaten track, teems with life, and there are many young people living here in academic centres. Rooksana Hossenally recommended visiting the Market Square and Ostrów Tumski, but she also recommended cafés and wine bars along the Oder River.

‘Visit Wroclaw in the warmer months, around May or June, and in September to see the city really come alive,’ encouraged the Michelin Guide editor specialising in travel writing.

This encouragement is important because, as Maciej Dobrzyniecki, the exclusive partner of the Michelin Guide in Poland, pointed out last summer, it is a fact that the number of qualified tourists sometimes increases a few times once a city or region is included in the Michelin Guide.

'We also deal with a completely different visitor profile: someone who is willing to spend more during his stay in the city and is interested in a broad offer – not only a catering, but also cultural one,’ Dobrzyniecki pointed out.
