One job for PLN 2 million
Two stages of the investment are scheduled for completion in 2020: the first one worth 120 million and the second one worth 200 million PLN. LG Electronics Wrocław will produce safety separators for lithium-ion batteries, which are typically used in electric cars, for instance. The first deliveries of products to customers are scheduled for February 2020.
At the end of August this year, LG Electronics Wrocław was awarded support under the Polish Investment Zone, due to the fact that the company has met the criteria of sustainable development. This means that LG's investment does not pose a hazard to the natural environment and that the company will create high quality jobs.
- LG has been present in the Wrocław agglomeration for over 10 years. Now, however, the business cooperation has entered a completely new phase. Due to the investments made by our partners, Wrocław will become a key centre for the development of electro-mobility in Europe and worldwide - says the Mayor of Wrocław.
LG Electronics has been operating in Biskupice Podgórne since 2006. The company employs approximately 700 people and manufactures household appliances.
- In the years to come, we plan to increase production by approximately 10-20 per cent per year. Using the existing infrastructure, we would also like to develop new competences. That is why we entered the safety separators market - says Sebastian Stadnik. The managing director of LG Electronics stated that within two years the production of separators will reach similar levels to household appliances in terms of value.
