A bishops' forum, philosophy workshops, discussion panels, concerts and choir performances, and atop of that 4,000 participants. All this will be available at the Central and Eastern Europe Christians' Meeting in Wrocław, from July 4th to July 6th. The Tuesday press conference revealed details of the meeting.
"The motto of Wrocław meeting will be "To Be Free In Christ". The meeting is connected with the celebration of 25th anniversary of the 1989 system changes in Europe, and the fall of the Berlin Wall"strong>said Rt. Rev. Ryszard Bogusz, the head of Wrocław diocese of the Lutheran Church.
The Central and Eastern Europe Christians' Meeting is organized by evangelic churches from 12 European countries, among others from Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, Russia, Finland and Poland. On Thursday a Conference of Lutheran Church Leaders is planned. On Friday, the inauguration of the meeting at the Centennial Hall will be featured by the “Śląsk” Song and Dance Ensemble, as well as groups from Slovakia, Russia and Germany. The main lecture will be held by Prof. Jerzy Buzek, the former Prime Minister of Polish government, and the Head of the European Parliament in years 2009-2012. On Saturday, the two scenes at the Centennial Hall, and four places situated near Wrocław's Market Square (ul. Oławska and Świdnicka) will feature performances of national and foreign choirs, music bands and theatrical groups. The organizers welcome for a Night Of Open Doors in churches of all denominations (13 sanctuaries in the city centre).
"Apart from that, the Centennial Hall will host ongoing discussion panels, featuring topics such as, among others, "Ethics In Business" and "Spirituality In Culture", as well as Bible hours and the opportunities' fair. The programme includes also football games, special events for kids and sightseeing the city, including The District of Four Faiths" enumerated rev. Marcin Orawski from the Lutheran parish in Wrocław, adding that an integral part of the meeting would be the Evangelic Youth Convention.
"Everybody is welcomed. We don't limit ourselves to evangelicals. Entrance to all events is free" pointed out Rt. Rev. Ryszard Bogusz.
The event is held under the honorary patronage of Bronisław Komorowski, the President of Poland. The organizers' committee includes, among others, Wrocław bishops of various denominations, the mayor of Wrocław, the Marshall and the Voivode.
"We are happy to host so many people from Europe in two years before Wrocław takes in the title of the European City of Culture. Perhaps some of them will return to Wrocław in 2016" added Rt. Rev. Ryszard Bogusz.
The meetings will be held from Jul. 4th to Jul. 6th in the Centennial Hall and the Congress Centre. The participants will be boarded in student dorms, and will be eligible for free public transport, based on their conference ID.
