Aircraft engine components to be manufactured near Wroclaw

Paradigm Precision, an American manufacturer of aircraft engine components, launches a production site near Wroclaw. Turbine aircraft engine components will be produced in Nowa Wieś Wroclawska, Kąty Wroclawskie municipality. The company is planning to invest 5 to 10 million EUR. It is estimated that 90% of all passenger aircraft worldwide use engines featuring Paradigm Precision components.

Specialist apparatus is now being installed at a 4200-sqm factory floor in Nowa Wieś Wrocławska, in A4's vicinity. They will be used by to manufacture turbine aircraft engines by the American investor Paradigm Precision. The manufacturing process is expected to start at the end of February. Training for machine operators is now under way.

"We will be manufacturing jet engine components to be supplied to our clients, including Rolls-Royce, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney or Snecma. First batches should be delivered in May 2016," explains Quentin Hughes, Vice President Overseas Operations at Paradigm Precision. He also adds that the company has between ten and twenty production sites throughout the world, the majority of which are located in North America. Their Europe-based sites are located in Hungary and Great Britain. It is estimated that 90% of passenger aircraft are propelled by engines using Paradigm Precision components. The company is involved in innovative projects that yielded state-of-the-art engines used in latest Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

Paradigm Precision Poland seeks employees

The company representatives emphasise that they selected the Wroclaw area due to its favourable location and easy access to both the airport and the motorway.

"Equally important were the skills of Wroclaw-based technical university graduates," says Quentin Hughes: "We are now seeking engineers, technology specialists, QA specialists and machine operators. The Wroclaw area offers top quality and uniquely skilled experts. Previous experience will be an asset. Our offer is designed for those who wish to learn and develop professionally. The company is planning to invest in employees through a variety of training opportunities. There are positions available for technical college graduates, especially those skilled in machining. We are planning to launch cooperation with secondary schools to open the eyes of teenagers to the world of latest aviation technology. Both the students and the entire region will benefit from the programme.

The recruitment process has already started. The company has already 16 people on board, while another 40 people will have been employed by July. Ca. 250 people will be offered jobs in the next 2 or 3 years. Paradigm Precision is now looking for CNC and EDM operators. For more information, please visit the company's website. The business is planning to invest 5 to 10 million EUR in the Wroclaw area. The Wroclaw site is its first in Poland. The company treats it as a pilot project. If it turns out successful, more investment is likely to follow suit.

"The investment is a handbook case of how to develop such projects, and everything is getting off to a good start," says Paradigm Precision's Operations Director Piotr Cichosz.

Wroclaw's focus on the aviation industry

Quentin Hughes says that Paradigm Precision is already involved in meetings with an aviation cluster established last year in Lower Silesia.

"The authorities in the Wroclaw Metropolitan area focused on developing the aviation sector, which is a promising industry due to its innovative technologies and the quality of employment. Paradigm Precision is on the lookout for qualified engineers and technically skilled machine operators. We are happy that we have an investor in the region who adds to the diversity of the local labour market, which makes Wroclaw even more attractive for both residents and professionals," says Łukasz Czajkowski, Director at the Business Support Centre, Wroclaw Metropolitan Area Development Agency.

"We are really interested in collaborating with other manufacturers, universities and R&D centres. Paradigm is now just manufacturing. Our focus is also on R&D," adds Piotr Cichosz.

The chief objective for the Lower Silesia Aviation Cluster is to support aviation businesses active in south western Poland. The Lower Silesia Aviation Cluster cooperates with a number of actors, including the Wroclaw Metropolitan Area Development Agency.
