Africarium ZOO Wroclaw – attractions
The concept of the Africarium in Wroclaw is based on the presentation of selected African ecosystems, including:
- Red Sea – coral reef and coral reef fish;
- Beach on the Red Sea – terrestrial African spurred tortoises; African Lakes (Tangayika and Malawi) – around 50 different fish species – cichlids;
- Mozambique Channel – batoidea, hammerhead sharks, leopard sharks;
- East Africa – Nile hippopotamuses and animals inhabiting the savanna, such as: hyraxes (distant relatives of elephants), aardvarks (often mistaken for American anteaters!) and salt’s dik-dik (one of the smallest antelopes);
- Coast of Namibia – external basins in the Africarium Wroclaw inhabited by black-footed penguins and South African fur seals (relatives of popular sea lions);
- Jungle on the Congo river – crocodiles, otters, manatees and accompanying fish (tilapia) and several bird species.
During the construction of the Africarium in Wroclaw, modern solutions that had never been used in Poland were introduced.
