The Red Devils from Old Trafford and the Rossoneri (Red and Blacks) from San Siro need no introduction to football fans – their global fanbase is estimated at well over a billion. For many of them, the friendly match on 15 August at Tarczyński Arena in Wroclaw, scheduled as part of their preparation for the Premier League and Serie A season, could be a real treat.
Both teams will arrive in Wroclaw the day before the match, probably in the afternoon. There are no plans to make training sessions available to fans. Details of any other accompanying events, including potential fan zones, are due to be announced at a later date.
Wroclaw as a permanent venue for the Super Match?
The main organiser is Feelmotion, a company run by Tomasz Rachwał – the originator of the Super Match project. The City of Wroclaw and the Stadion Wroclaw company are involved in organising and funding the event at Tarczyński Arena. The partners are MPK Wroclaw, the Wroclaw Airport and the Wroclaw Tourist Organisation.
‘Wroclaw and Tarczyński Arena have often proved that we deserve to host such events and that we are well prepared for them thanks to the smooth co-operation of many partners. ‘It is enough to mention the Night Half Marathon held a few days ago, which attracted a record number of runners, the recent Conference League final between Chelsea and Sevilla, or Ed Sheeran’s concert,” emphasises Mateusz Żak, Vice-Mayor of Wroclaw.
Both Vice-President Mateusz Żak and Tomasz Rachwał emphasised at the press conference the promotional and image-building benefits of organising such an event.
Tomasz Rachwał: ‘We are expecting large numbers of tourists and football fans from Poland and abroad, who will have an opportunity to become familiar with Wroclaw and will later recommend it to others. Apart from that, our Super Match will be broadcast to over a hundred countries.
In the past, Super Matches were held in Wroclaw (Borussia Dortmund vs Silesia), in Warsaw (Real Madrid vs Fiorentina AC) and Gdańsk (FC Barcelona vs Lechia). In future, the organiser intends to focus on a single city.
Tomasz Rachwał: ‘We want the Super Match to be a regular event featuring top teams from Europe. We also want to develop this project in one location, preferably in Wroclaw. You could say that this year is a dress rehearsal.
United in Europe, Milan in Asia
Manchester United, managed by Michael Carrick, finished third in the Premier League in the 2025/2026 season and will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. AC Milan, managed by Massimiliano Allegri, finished fifth in Serie A and will compete in the UEFA Europa League.
Before the season kicks off, both teams will set off into the world, just like musicians going on tour. Wroclaw will not be the only place where they will play a friendly match. The English will also visit Helsinki, Stockholm and other cities, and the Italians will appear before fans in Jakarta – the capital of Indonesia.
