Insects and Humans

The exhibition explores the relationship between insects and humans, as well as insect-related topics and phenomena. One of the sections in the exhibition presents verminous insect species. One of the most popular and troublesome vermin belong in many an order or family of insects. Most of the verminous insects are: beetles, butterflies and hymenopterans, or less often true flies or orthopterans (including the migratory locust, which is a rare sight in contemporary Poland). The other section of the exhibition features beneficial insects. Many predatory and parasitic insect species help us to fight agricultural vermin. A vast number of necrophagous and coprophagous species, including beetles or true flies, process organic material in nature. Equally large masses of of hymenopterans, true flies or butterflies pollinate flowers and arable crops.
