TWG2017 to be Poland's major sports event next year

TWG2017 to be Poland's major sports event next year, according to the Parliamentary Commission for Sports and Leisure.

Wroclaw Deputy Mayor Wojciech Adamski and Presidents of the Wroclaw Organising Committee of 10. World Games Marcin Przychodny and Adam Roczek visited Warsaw on Tuesday to attend a meeting with the Permanent Parliamentary Subcommittee for the Preparation and Safety of Large Sporting Events such as World or European Championships. They presented a report on the preparations for the World Games 2017.

The Ministry of Sport and Tourism was represented by Secretary of State Jarosław Stawiarski. One of the reasons to hold the meeting was to examine a report on the preparations to the event, to be held from 20–30 July 2017 in Wroclaw, Trzebnica, Jelcz-Laskowice and Świdnica.

The Ministry promised to support The World Games 2017 and accepted an invitation from Wroclaw Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz to attend an away session of the Parliamentary Committee for Physical Education, Sport and Tourism (March-April next year).

The progress made ahead of the World Games 2017 has garnered praise both from the Committee and the Ministry. It must be pointed out that the Wroclaw Organising Committee played a significant part in encouraging the Ministry to contribute 2 million PLN to the renovation of an ice rink in ul Śląska in Świdnica. This versatile sports arena will be host to artistic roller skating and floorball competitions.

The Ministry of Sport and Tourism has made a guarantee that the World Games 2017 in Wroclaw are the most prominent sporting event in Poland in 2017.
