As of 30 June, MPK passengers will be able to take a free ride on a special A1 trial service to test two latest electric-powered buses from Volvo.

Volvo sets off to test two 7900 Electric buses in Wroclaw. These fully electric-powered and two-axle vehicles are also accessible to disabled passengers. The passengers will be able to take a free ride using a special A1 trial service available from 30 June to 9 July, between 8 am and 10 pm on a route between the University and the Volvo plant. The route goes through Plac Bema, Plac Grunwaldzki, Szczytnicki Park and Sępolno.

Volvo 7900 Electric Autobus vehicles are 10.7 metres in length and can take up to 86 passengers on board. They are equipped with electrical sockets to help you recharge your mobile phone. Silent and emission-free, these buses are in 80% more energy efficient than comparable Diesel vehicles. The buses come with lithium-ion batteries that recharge every time the driver brakes the vehicle. Additionally, special power sources are provided at the end of each line. The battery takes from three to six minutes to recharge. The vehicles have been designed to serve routes between 10 to 20 kilometres in length.

"Our current purchase plans at MPK Wroclaw do not include electric-powered vehicles. We are nonetheless interested in latest technology and new offers in the market. Hence our decision provide a trial service using Volvo buses," say MPK representatives.
