Here in the former Pod Chmielem restaurant he used to meet his friends discussed
and was thinking up how to fight against the communist regime. A poet, literary critic,
journalist, academic teacher, democratic opposition activist in Communist-ruled Poland,
author of the Obecność” (Presence) literary magazine, published out of censorship.
