Juliusz Słowacki
(1809 - 1849) "Samo miasto Wrocław jest dosyć ładne, niezmiernie stare, wszystkie domy
podobne do siebie, tak że dla kierowania się w tym mieście kompas bardzo
by się przydał" - pisał w liście do matki, z którą po długiej rozłące spotkał
się w 1848 r w hotelu Pod Białym Orłem. W pobliskiej kawiarni pijał
kawę i czytał prasę. Spacerował ulicami miasta i bulwarem odrzańskim.
Poeta i dramaturg polskiego romantyzmu, we Wrocławiu gościł dwukrotnie.
Wrocław City itself is rather pretty, immensely old, all houses are similar
to each other so that a com pass would be quite useful to move around the City”
he wrote in a letter to his mother whom he met after a long separation
at the Under White Eagle Hotel in 1848. In a nearby cafe he used to drink coffee
and read newspapers. He strolled along City streets and Odra River embankment.
A poet and dramatist of Polish Romanticism, he visited Wrocław twice.
