The Entrepreneurship Education Programme is a unique national set of projects, dedicated to various age groups whose common objective is to promote the entrepreneurship culture and to propagate the consumer awareness. The long-term objective of the Programme is to create more micro, small and medium-sized companies in Wrocław, competitive in the conditions of the market economy and supporting the increase in the civil society awareness.
Under the Program, the innovative tools are offered, whose task is not to replace or work for the school education system, but to support it both through the selection of innovative methods and active contact with the business. Here, entrepreneurship is understood as a set of features helping both the future employer and the employee.
These features are:
activity and expansiveness (setting the ambitious objectives to achieve greater benefits),ability to assess the risk and willingness to take it,ability to adapt to the changing environmental conditions,ability to see the opportunities and to use them,ability to teamwork,putting facts together and drawing proper conclusions,innovation (introduction and constant search for creative improvements).
The basis for the creation of the Entrepreneurship Education Programme was the multi-annual observations in cooperation with Wrocław microenterprises and people wishing to start their own business. Here, numerous gaps in knowledge on basic economic, financial and marketing issues have been diagnosed, which in many cases resulted in helplessness and inability to function in the prevailing economic realities.
The initiator of the Programme creation is the City Hall of Wrocław, more precisely the Office of Economic Development, which asked the Department of Education to cooperate. In this way, the competence of the business consultancy was combined with experience in managing urban educational establishments. In addition, research carried out and consultations with the teachers and experts from the Wrocław Teacher Training Centre confirmed the Programme authors in their belief that educational activities with regard to entrepreneurship should be started at the earliest age possible in accordance with the old Polish proverb: "As the twig is bent, so grows the tree".
Therefore, the basic objective of the Programme is to spread knowledge about entrepreneurship from the earliest age possible and at all stages of education. We offer practical knowledge only, useful in making all sorts of life challenges, including those related to running own business.
Spreading the features defining entrepreneurship contributes to shaping the attitudes of the aware consumer and aware citizen. This means the greater certainty to avoid loss of property due to ill-considered financial decisions, not to fall into the spiral of indebtedness, reasonable investment, rational saving or enforcing own consumer rights, and thus exerting pressure on raising the quality of available products and services. This also means conscious voting decisions, knowledge about responsibility in which each civil action is involved and the better grounds for teamwork for the good of the local community and the country.
