Genuine Gilmour's fan
Katarzyna Dudziak loves just one band, namely Pink Floyd, and one artist, that is David Gilmour. She was initiated into the world of music by her parents when she was just four. "They educated me thoroughly", she says with a smile. Katarzyna is now focused on raising her daughters while working on a detective novel (set in England). Her passion for all things Gilmour started with her love of Pink Floyd (Katarzyna and her husband collect their LPs, including vinyl editions) and has continued to embrace David Gilmour's solo albums (since 2005). "I remember the critics saying that he did not deserve to take over from Roger Waters as a leader, but it's not true. He's always been great, and the fact that he has written only few of all Pink Floyd's lyrics hardly proves anything", points out Katarzyna Dudziak. To date she has never been able to see Gilmour live (her husband saw Pink Floyd in Prague in 1994), so the Saturday evening is going to be special. That is why Katarzyna decided to celebrate it in a unique way.
A yellow dress for David
Everything started with David Gilmour's latest "Rattle That Lock", which features "The Girl In The Yellow Dress". "Polly Samson, a writer and Gilmour's wife, likes wear a yellow dress and I decided to get a similar one", recounts Katarzyna Dudziak. When she found the right dress, Katarzyna came up with the idea to surprise the artist. "That is, to encourage other female fans to sport yellow dresses to the event", reveals Katarzyna. The action has been designed for ladies specifically, but gentlemen can put on a yellow bandanna instead. "There won't be any rain hopefully, but we're prepared if it happens otherwise, that is, we have yellow raincoats. We are also thinking about yellow baloons", says Katarzyna Dudziak.
Surprise, surprise!
You can find out more about the initiative on Facebook's "Yellow Dress for David", which features a frame from the animated video clip promoting Gilmour's "The Girl In The Yellow Dress". Katarzyna Dudziak says that the initiative has been designed as a surprise, which is why she has not notified the administrators of Gilmour's official website and his blog. Coming to Wroclaw with her friends from all over Poland, Katarzyna is hoping to see her idol from up close. "It's much easier to do this in England because the fans attend meet-the-author sessions with Polly Samson, who almost always appears in with her husband. So there is much greater chance to win an autograph", says Katarzyna Dudziak.
