Wrocław-Made Cat Cartoon

Everything started a few years ago. On her door mat, a young woman from Wrocław found a kitten, a frightened and cold lump of misfortune. And a dog person she was, she fell in in love with cats ever since. She now has two of her own and feeds several straight ones, too. What\'s more, she opened a pet shop, and started creating comic stories about cats and their relations with humans.

Magdalena Gałęzia has been into drawing since childhood. She graduated the Religious Arts Department at Krakow's Papal Theological Academy, however her contemporary drawings have nothing to do with sacred art. They are funny stories of how cats can manipulate their owners.

Cats rule

"Cats are fantastic. My cat looks like a cute, furry and friendly black ball. But he is a real beast. He wheels and deals, and manipulates me as much as he can" laughs Magda. It is precisely owing to daily observation of cats that she now creates a comic story. It can be followed on a fanpage https://www.facebook.com/Milozwierz?fref=ts. The profile is gathering more and more fans. At present the author can claim over 3,000 likes. Cartoons she posts are shared by others, and that's how more and more people get to know "Miłozwierz". She calls her stories "baranki" [little rams]. "It's because of the way cats fawn, how they bump you with their heads- just like little rams" Magda said. People comment the cartoons warmly. "Great cartoons, I share them on my wall", "She always aptly sums up cats! Love it", "Simply adore:)" - these are but a few of the reviews. "Everyone who keeps a cat get that cynical humour" adds the author.

"Cat therapy"

Though the story's main character, a black, fussy cat is quite a despot, the author admits that cats are her great love. "I've always kept dogs. I didn't shun cats, although we didn't quite see eye to eye" remembers Magdalena Gałęzia. "But when I found my first cat, I got to know what these animals are. How they can sense your mood, either calm down or cheer up. I can't imagine living without a cat now.

Book and calendar

Magda is full of ideas for next cartoons. Inspiration is also brought by the clients of her shop. "They often tell me what mischief their cuddlies did at home, and how they made their caretakers laugh. And very often when I draw the adventures of my black cat I use those stories - said Magda. Her Facebook popularity made the artist plan publishing a book and a calendar. "Popularity of my cat cartoons is very important for me, and that's why I've been thinking for some time now to make my cat appear on paper. A calendar will go first. A book is in my slightly distant plans, but I'm also thinking about it" summed up Magdalena.
