  3. Wroclaw - an Eastern European monitoring centre

On Tuesday, 10 June 2014, at ul. Skarbowców in Wroclaw, the representative office of the largest Korean Bank, the Shinhan Bank, was officially opened. This is the third such office opened in Europe (the other two are located in London and Frankfurt).

The opening of the new office was approved by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. The role of the new Wroclaw office will be to monitor the largest Korean projects in Central and Eastern Europe financed by Shinhan Bank.

"Our bank is generally considered to be the best bank in Korea, thanks to its profitability and the continuous growth of its assets", said Jin Won Suh, president and managing director of Shinhan Bank. "Moreover the brand of our bank is considered to be very valuable by renowned global institutions. This has allowed us to build a global network of 69 branches in 16 countries, from emerging markets, such as China, Vietnam, and India, to developed markets, such as the USA, Japan, and Germany. Poland is located in a region that is of strategic importance to us, one that lies between Western and Eastern Europe. This is why we decided to take the new challenge here. We will do our best to help the local community in every way possible.

"In the last 20 years, Poland achieved the average growth rate on the level of 3.9%, which is 2-3 times higher than the average European growth rate", said Jung Ung Yeu, president of LG Display. "Given Poland's location and the excellent quality of the work and competitiveness of Korean companies, I believe that they will experience excellent growth here.

"The opening of the representative office of Shinhan Bank in Wroclaw is a reason for optimism", said Dariusz Ostrowski, president of the Agency for Development of the Wroclaw Agglomeration. "This strengthens the position of the capital of Lower Silesia in the area of finances and banking, which makes it second only to Warsaw. This is how Wroclaw is becoming even more attractive to the global business.

Shinhan Bank is one of the largest banks in South Korea. It provides services to both retail customers and companies. It is also active in the area of investment banking, brokerage services, and insurance. With nearly one thousand branches, it is one of the largest bank networks in Korea. It has representative offices in Canada, Germany, Mexico, China, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Japan, United Kingdom, India, the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
