We’re gonna see some action – that’s what we can say when looking at the program of celebrations of this year's Senior Days. There is really much to choose from, as the number of events will be even bigger than a year ago. For 17 days, participants in Senior Days can expect a wealth of attractions for free or at cheaper prices.
These will be diverse events:
- educational events (e.g., meetings, lectures, cosmetic workshops, computer courses)
- cultural events (choir performances, film festivals, fair for seniors)
- sports events (Senioriada games, bowling games, Nordic walking exercises, cross-country race)
- health events (free examinations, workshops and consultations with specialists)
- music & dance events (bale, music games, zumba marathon, performances by music stars)
Obviously, preparations for Senior Days started much earlier. As one of its most important events, or even the most important one, is the attempt to beat the Hat Guinness Record, it is necessary to get ready for it. It is best to decorate your hat by yourself – ladies from the Wroclaw Senior Centre showed how to do this during an open workshop at Plac Solny.
One of the parts of the official inauguration of the event will be the final of the competition „For the longest time together” for longest-lasting marriages – finalists/winners will receive awards from the Mayor. As usual, seniors will have a lot of movement – not only during Senioriada games., but also, for instance, during the zumba marathon. Apart from that, this year’s program will also include many new cultural and educational attractions. Cinema lovers will be delighted with the three-day film festival Si Senor, and there will also be an opportunity to visit the National Forum of Music and the Capitol theatre. Health issues will play an important part, too – a variety of free medical examinations (hearing, osteoporosis, cytological and other tests) and consultations will be available.
Lots of events for senior inhabitants have been prepared by the Centennial Hall; one of them will be a huge concert of Don Vasyl and Gypsy Music Stars. Seniors will dance not only during the concert, but also during many dancing parties, also in costumes from the 1950s and the 1960s, and, obviously, at the Senior Ball – the formal conclusion of Senior Days on the 11th of October.
