Sale of Fagor Mastercook is closed

On Friday 6th November, the final agreement for sale of the Fagor Mastercook plant at ul. Żmigrodzka in bankruptcy to BSH (Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH) was signed.

The final agreement for the sale and transfer of property assets and the handover of the enterprise was signed between the administrator of Fagor Mastercook and BSH Wrocław. The Germans paid 95 million PLN for the plant and made an obligation to invest further 150 milion PLN.

‘We came across various legal “reefs” on the way, but our ship eventually reached the port. The signed agreement is the conclusion of the process that took two years,’ says Marcin Dudarski, D.Sc., from JP Weber law office, a representative of BSH.

In April 2015, when the preliminary sales agreement was signed, BSH’s representatives informed that the plant would restore production and create 500 jobs by the end of 2019. Now these plans may change.

‘We can expect that BSH will make some interesting announcements about the commencement of production during the next few months. Signing the agreement means that money is now available for the payment of overdue salaries,’ says Dariusz Ostrowski, President of the Wroclaw Agglomeration Development Agency (ARAW), who represents the city in the board of creditors.

‘We have an idea for the former Fagor plant and a plan of its modernisation and restoration of employment,’ said Konrad Pokutycki, prezes Zarządu BSH Sprzęt Gospodarstwa Domowego, in April this year. ‘The investment in Wroclaw is a part of our long-term strategy of doubling our global turnover till 2025. The company has a long-year experience in successful modernisation, development and innovation processes in its plants. The experiences of Łódź, Rzeszów, Warsaw and other locations where BSH operates around the world show that we are a responsible investor.

BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH is the biggest household appliance producer in Europe and one of the world’s leading companies in this industry. In 2013, the company earned annual revenue of 10.5 milliard EUR. Now BSH has 42 factories in 13 states in Europe, USA, Latin America and Asia. According to the Puls Biznesu newspaper, BSH has invested 500 million EUR in Poland. It has dishwasher, washing machine and clothes drier factories with 2,000 employees in Łódź. Apart from that, it bought the Zelmer factory and has eight shared service centres in Poland, where 500 people are employed, and three logistic centres.
