In Wrocław will be created experimental solutions in the part of Ołbin, in the disctrict with inner-city, high-density housing, as a part of winning project. Daszyńskiego Street and Prusa Street will create „green Street” and in its neighbourhood (around Nowowiejska and Jedności Narodowej Street) will create pocket parks with green walls. Wroclaw received PLN 12 million for that aim.
Competition was organized in a two-step system. Only 4 of 45 projects was chosen to received a bailout.
Wroclaw’s project was introduced in the application for „Green Capital of Europe”. – Our winning in the „Horizon 2020” competition is a proof of Wroclaw’s credibility with respect to plans introduced in the application. – says Lech Filipiak from department of property and exploitation of the City Hall.
In the consortium of the project was 23 partners from 9 countries. The project has three leaders: Manchester, Valencia and Wrocław. Program is realized by: the borough, Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences.
All of the cities participating in the project had problems and crysis situations related to extreme weather phenomenoms. In these areas are needed inteligent and friendly activities. That’s why economic and effective system solutions are searched.
Residents of Wroclaw will be involved in creating a green zone in Ołbin. Seven places for pocket parks and route that will be change for a greet street were chosen.
In the second part of the project, residents of Wroclaw will take part in designing of a microgreen. There will be created a project teams with specialists from different fields: landscapers, city planners, environmental scientists, sociologists and residents.
The third part of the project called „heritage” will be focus on caring for a greenery.
