Photo radars in and around Wroclaw [MAP]

Summer holidays are coming to an end. A lot of people will be returning to their homes. Read more to see the locations of photo radars in and around Wroclaw. You should exercise particular caution on A4, S8 and DK3. The information has been verified by the creators of the Rysiek app. Drivers use the app to share warnings about road checks and photo radars.

Summer holidays is most of all the time to relax, but for drivers it may also be a stressful time as they come across photo radars and road checks. NaviExpert have created a special app for drivers. Rysiek is available free of charge and receives alerts on road checks being carried out in Lower Silesia. "We collected the data in the first two weeks of July," explains Katarzyna Przybylska from NaviExpert. She adds that drivers frequently share warnings about unexpected road checks at:

  • A4 (Wroclaw's vicinity)
  • A4 between Legnickie Pole and Udanin
  • S8 between Wroclaw Północ and Dąbrowa
  • S8 between Dąbrowa and Szczodrów
  • DK5 between Bolków and Dobromierz
  • DK5 between Lubin and Polkowice

Drivers admit that they have to exercise particular caution on DK8 in Cieszyce and DK35 in Tworzyjanów. "Just the other day I was in for a surprise when I saw traffic police make spot checks at Bielany Junction. A patrol on motorbikes parked by the Orlen fuel station and stopped cars that exceeded the speed limit," says Paweł Markiewicz, a driver from Wroclaw. He adds that drivers can drive up to 80 km/h in the area, but only few of them follow the regulations.

Road hogs on AOW and A4 meet their nemesis whenever they come across a signed police BMW motorbike fitted with a video cam. Police officers say that drivers who have been made to stop over for a check are surprised that their offence has been captured on tape.

The good news for drivers is that as of July the Main Inspectorate Of Road Transport is having fake photo radar removed, and each working radar has been marked in yellow and bear D-51 sign (speed control). 28 such replicas were dismantled in Lower Silesia.

Unfortunately, the Main Inspectorate Of Road Transport is planning to buy 100 photo radars in the not too distant future. Currently, tests are being carried out on SPECS cameras. They will be installed along the roads at the end of 2014. There will be 29 such cameras in Poland with only 2 in Lower Silesia. The two cameras will be measuring speeds on DK3 in Lubin and DK5 between Borzęcin and Prusice.pwr
