The dwarf owes its name to a music story for both kids and adults, "Tajemnica Krasnala Szomola" [Secret of Dwarf Szomol], composed by Włodzimierz Szomański. Official presentation of the dwarf is planned for Friday, December 5 at 18:00. Commencing an hour later will be a concert commemorating the Wrocław composer. On that night presented will be not only the story of Szomol, but also poems of Julian Tuwim, well-known to a few generations of Poles (among others Pan Tralaliński [Mr. Tralaliński], Okulary [Glasses], Zosia Samosia [Bootstrap Sophy] Lokomotywa [Puffing Billy] or Spóźniony słowik [Belated Nightingale]), to which the music was composed by non other than the leader of Spirituals Singers Band.
One of the most beloved Wrocław musical groups (who celebrated its 35th anniversary last year), led by Olga Szomańska, the composer's daughter, and excellent vocalist, will also perform on Friday. The musicians will be accompanied by Kameleon Trio and the string quartet of the NFM Symphonic Orchestra. The concert starts at 19.00.
Włodzimierz Szomański died tragically in May this year, near village Bojmie in Mazowieckie Voivodship. He was on his way back from a concert, together with other Spirituals Singers Band members. Szomański was put to rest in the cemetery at ul. Bujwida
