A market called "Grabiszyński" will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, from early morning till afternoon next to the street and opposite the car wash. The market is separated from the street and the pavement with a wall. The market is nearly one hectare in size and offers enough room to accommodate 150 stands. There will also be a food stand open throughout the week, which is good news to people who work in the area. A large car park is located at the back, and parking fees are soon to be announced.
The market area is now undergoing massive construction and maintenance works. "We will level the ground wherever possible, we will also provide new fencing and have a new entrance gate installed. A commemorative one, transferred from the market at the Świebodzki Railway Station. We also want to have the wall repainted so that it doesn't look so ugly," says Bożena Grabowska, Market Manager, and she hastens to add that everything will be ready for the upcoming Saturday.
From the Świebodzki Station to Grabiszyńska
Bożena Grabowska was running the market at the Świebodzki Railway Station for eighteen years. "When the railway terminated our cooperation, we parted our ways in a rather unpleasant atmosphere and I began looking for a new place to accommodate the market. The traders themselves asked me to do so, as some of them didn't want to do business at the Świebodzki under the railway management," says Bożena Grabowska. She says that half of the stands are already taken, mainly by the traders from the Świebodzki, including the famous Staś and his greengrocer's stand which people always flocked to. She also says the market is going to develop. The new market area is the property of a private investor from Poznań.
"The place is conveniently located, has good public transport and a bicycle route. That's why I'm not afraid of illegal traders selling from the pavement. The residents are looking forward to the opening as there is no real open market in the area," says the Market Manager.
The market will be similar to that at the Świebodzki and will offer virtually everything, ranging from groceries and cleaning products to cosmetics, clothing, shoes, furniture, home furnishings, antiques and a variety of old papers. One of the main attractions of the place, a fish stand is going to offer fresh produce straight from the seaside which they are going to smoke on the spot.
Saturdays will feature second-hand goods from Germany, mainly furniture, but you will also be able to buy bicycles. Sundays will be devoted to other goods: groceries, clothing, shoes, cosmetics and various bits and pieces.
