The National Forum of Music was inaugurated on the 4th of September – now it is the new place of work for Wroclaw orchestras and vocal ensembles, which have worked in the building of the Wroclaw Philharmonics at ul. Piłsudskiego so far. The 2015-2016 season abounds in attractive events – they are addressed mainly to fans of classical music, but jazz fans will also find something for themselves in the Forum, including Jazztopad concerts and many special events.
Jazz and world music
If you want to go to a concert of the American jazz vocalist Dianne Reeves (the 6th of April), we advise you to buy a ticket already now, because this performance has already attracted much interest. Tickets cost 90-180 PLN.
Already in the autumn, the Forum will host at least two fantastic events – two concerts of flamenco singers. Niña Pastori (you will read more about her in Po raz pierwszy w Polsce: Nina Pastori (Nina Pastori: For the first time in Poland)) will be the star of the Gitara + Ladies festival (during this year’s event, the Ladies will rule, indeed) already on the 7th of October, and Concha Buika (called the “queen of flamenco”) will perform on the 10th of October (tickets cost 60-180 PLN). And on the 5th of November, the excellent American jazz pianist Uri Caine will play his own pieces together with the Lutosławski Quartet (tickets cost 20-50 PLN).
Music for computer games and Artur Rojek
And now something for fans of other music genres: an interesting concert with music for computer games will be held on the 15th of November. Soundtracks from popular computer games will be performed by the NFM Symphony Orchestra. The Forum is also becoming more popular with well-known names of the Polish rock’n’roll or pop scene. On the 16th of November, Artur Rojek, known best as the former vocalist of Myslovitz and the artistic director of Off Festival, will arrive here with guests to perform songs from his solo album ‘Składam się z ciągłych powtórzeń’ [I Consist of Continuous Repetitions]. Tickets cost 80-110 PLN.
