This year's edition of the competition is its twelfth and it has attracted a record-breaking number of registrations. 201 applications were made in eight different categories. The organisers say the outstanding result is largely due to a new digital application system they have launched this year. Twenty-four companies and institutions were shortlisted for this year's final of the competition.
Wroclaw Technology Park recognised for promoting Lower Silesia
Wroclaw-based companies were also awarded in the competition. The list opens with Wroclaw Technology Park, which was recognised for achievements in promoting development in the region. Research and Engineering Center Sp z o.o., which specialises in software engineering, was presented with a prize for achievements in the internationalisation process. Dozamel Sp. z o.o. was in turn awarded for its commitment to CSR.
This year's Lower Silesia Griffin Awards were presented in eight different categories, including innovative business ideas, achievements in promoting development in Lower Silesia, commitment to CSR and cooperation with science.
A special surprise award in the Lower Silesia Personality category was presented to Professor Ewa Michnik, the Wroclaw Opera Director
Nominees are selected by an independent award committee gathering representatives of the most important institutions and companies in the region as well as outstanding business and political figures.
Lower Silesia Griffin Awards for economic development in the region
For 12 years now, Lower Silesian Griffin Awards have been presented in recognition for economic achievement in the region. They promote innovation and dynamic development and they also acknowledge commitment to investment and local communities. The awards honour business, local government units, institutions and organisations that shape the economic and social future of Lower Silesia. The competition is open to all of those who either fill in the application forms or are selected by the organisers.
To date, nearly 2 thousand businesses and local government units have been scrutinised by the Award Committee. A total of 82 winners have been selected so far, including Wroclaw's Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz and His Eminence Cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz.
The competition is organised by: Western Chamber of Commerce, Polska Miedź Employers' Associations, Marshal's Office of Lower Silesia and Employers of Poland Association.
