‘I want to play as often as possible and support the team with my skills. My aim is always to reach the highest place in the table with my team, and the same goes for Śląsk,’ said Joan shortly after signing the contract with WKS Śląsk Wroclaw. ‘I'm ready to play. Of course, I need some time to get to know the coach and the team better, but I can adapt quickly. I feel good in Wroclaw, it is a large European city,’ he adds.
The Spanish footballer can play as a winger or an attacking centre-half. He began his career in Espanyol, from where he went to Manchester City at a young age. Having spent three years in the English team, he moved to FC Barcelona, which paid 1 million EUR for him.
However, he failed to make it to Barca’s first team. In 2014 he was borrowed to Villarreal, in which he had an opportunity to play against Real Madrid. Interestingly, he played in Blaugrana’s friendly match against Lechia in Gdańsk three years ago.
In 2015, he left Catalonia and signed a contract with SC Braga. Joan spent the last six months on loan in another Portuguese club CD Nacional. There he played 8 matches and had 2 assists.
‘I haven’t talked to Sito Rier year. I’m happy to meet another Spanish player here, particularly because he had a spell in Barcelona, too. I’ll certainly see him soon and we’ll talk,’ says the 23-year-old player.
In Śląsk, Joan will play in the shirt no. 7 with the name ‘Juan Roman’.
