‘We looked for a suitable location for this point for a long time. We wanted it to be easily accessible and visible. Eventually, we managed to make these rooms available,’ said Archbishop Józef Kupny about InfoCentrum that was opened on Monday the 22nd of June.
The information point occupies a small hall and two rooms on the floor in the building at Pl. Katedralny 1. It is very close to the Cathedral; the entrance to InfoCentrum is hidden under arcades. There are plans to make two further rooms available. ‘We want to create a place where people visiting Ostrów Tumski could spend more time there and learn more than from guides.’
InfoCentrum is a joint idea of the Wroclaw curia and the authorities of Wroclaw, which co-financed the project.
The information point contains materials concerning, e.g., the history of Ostrów Tumski, Wroclaw and the region, and a plan of cultural and artistic events, including those related to the European Capital of Culture 2016 and The World Games 2017.
Apart from that, InfoCentrum will provide social services. All people in need can obtain here information about free legal and family consulting centres in Wroclaw and other forms of health, social and psychological support.
