The last weekend of the summer holidays at Wyspa Słodowa will begin with a gig from the Wroclaw-based heavy metal band Afterglow. They will perform in the company of Zaklęty Krąg Biedoty, whose music combines the primitive power of rock'n'roll with a modern approach to rhythm. Gigs at the Outdoor Scene will continue on Saturday with live performances from Deadman Show and Bonhart. The Open-air Cinema is going to screen the director's cut of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The audience are in for a journey through the beautiful and dangerous lands of the Middle-earth on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8.30 pm.
On Sunday, as always, a variety of attractions are waiting for families. The Island of Games is scheduled to start as early as 1 pm. A selection of this summer's most popular games will be available at the library. From 2 pm to 6 pm children will be offered to take part in workshops to learn how to build a robot, enjoy creative games and spend as much time as they see fit at their favourite bouncing castles. Children's Island also offers yoga workshops for mothers and mothers-to-be,massages and "Sing to Me Mummy, Sing to Me Dad" workshops for two separate groups at 2.30 pm and 4 pm, respectively. At 4.30 pm, the Classics at the Island will bring a fresh portion of jazz standards and original songs set to poetry. Music lovers will also engage in communal singing, which is scheduled to start at 3 pm. Two social actions will be held at Wyspa Słodowa all day long - as early as 2 pm ladies are invited to a shopping spree at the Women's Market, while the Stolen Bicycles activists will share a few tips on how to safeguard your bicycle against thieves. There will also be dancing workshops in the evening, including party dance and latino solo classes organised by the Esens Dance Academy. The workshops are scheduled to start at 5.30 pm.
As always, the events held at Wyspa Piaskowa will help you to keep fit. On Saturday, members of Poland's most successful lacrosse team, Kosynierzy Wroclaw, will tell you more about this intriguing new sports discipline. On Sunday, Board-Rider instructors will tell you more about surfskate. From 4 to 5 pm, you will also be able to ask a professional Nordic walking instructor for advice. Mr Spine will also be available at all times to share his advice on physiotherapy and soothe your aches and pains with a relaxing massage.
