The European cycle route network EuroVelo is a project of the European Federation of Cyclists. Its aim is to build 14 long-distance cycle routes running through the entire territory of Europe. The total length of routes will be over 70,000 km.
R9 through Wrocław
Wroclaw lies on the route of the section running from the Polish-Czech border in Głuchołazy through Nysa, Dzierżoniów, Świdnica and Trzebnica to Poznań. The route is marked with white boards with the green symbol of the bicycle and the name R9 in the field.
The route runs through Wroclaw mainly on cycle tracks; only on the outskirts of the city and in the centre at ul. Świdnicka it runs down the roads where you must be particularly careful because of intense motor traffic. The guide describes accurately the course of the route and the most interesting places located near the route are marked on presented maps.
The length of the route running through Wroclaw is 23 km. It is not a difficult route, and its only shortcomings are busy sections of streets on the outskirts. Apart from that, we advise you to be careful in the city centre when crossing numerous intersections with traffic lights.
The travel time depends mainly on whether we intend to visit the described places or other places located close to them. Because of its short length, the route within the borders of Wroclaw can be covered at an unhurried pace in one day.

The bicycle traffic development section ordered also a reprint of the guide to the cycle route in the trail of Wroclaw military bases. The map was updated and supplemented with one base. Apart from that, descriptions of bases mentioned in the guide were corrected thanks to the assistance of Stanisław Kolouszek, the president of the Wroclaw Fortification Association.
