Celebrations in Wroclaw will begin already on the 16th of September. On that day, the municipal transport company MPK Wroclaw is planning to open an exhibition of historic trams in the Dąbie depot at ul. Wróblewskiego. It will be available to visitors for the entire week, and the moment of culmination will occur on Saturday the 20th of September. “The exhibition of the rolling stock will be accompanied by an exhibition devoted to the history of the Wroclaw city transport system. Apart from that, it will be possible to perform a guided tour of the depot and listen to its history at appointed hours every day,” says Agata Gwizd from the Promotion Office of MPK Wroclaw.
22nd of September – World Car Free Day
Members of the Wroclaw city council have decided that this year we can travel by city and inter-commune means of transport free of charge on Monday the 22nd of September. On that day, MPK will traditionally seal ticket punchers, and ticket inspectors will not impose any fine for riding without a valid ticket.
As usual, MPK Wroclaw is also planning an Open Day in the tram depot at ul. Powstańców Śląskich. It will happen on Saturday the 20th of September. Like every year, Wroclaw inhabitants and lovers of the city transport system can expect a wealth of attractions, including:
- tram driving course (SKODA 19 T)
- exhibition of rolling stock (trams, special vehicles),
- bicycle workshop (doctor bike),
- specialist rescue shows,
- bicycle marking (police),
- contests and animations for children,
- historical exhibition,
- rides by historic trams (special rides to the depot no. 6 at ul. Wróblewskiego and the depot no. 7 at ul. Grabiszyńska).
Lectures and exhibition of trains
On Sunday the 21st of September there will be a real treat for railway fans. The Association of Railway Hobbyists is planning an exhibition of railway rolling stock on the Wrocław Główny Railway Station. The event will be accompanied by contests and attractions for children.
From the 15th of September, a series of events is also planned by cycling fans. On that day, the Wroclaw Cycling Initiative wants to launch a huge campaign that mainly promotes voting for cycling projects as a part of the Wroclaw Citizens’ Budget, but also involves many attractions.
