Extra free parking places for zoo and hall guests

New free parking places for buses are being determined for guests of the Wroclaw Zoo and the Centennial Hall. They will be built at ul. Na Grobli and at Wybrzeże Juliusza Słowackiego (near the Marshal’s Office). In the next few years, the Wroclaw Administration of Roads and City Maintenance also plans to build a car park for 40 vehicles (including private cars) near the Zwierzyniecka Footbridge.

Road workers from the Zaberd company are determining new parking places for buses on the side of ul. Na Grobli. They will be built in order to reduce traffic at ul. Wróblewskiego and will be put mainly at the disposal of buses with tourists visiting the Zoo and the Centennial Hall. A parking place for short stops is being prepared at ul. Na Grobli near the Zwierzyniecka Footbridge. New pedestrial crossings will also be painted there. All passengers will only need to cross the footbridge on the Oder River in order to reach the main gate of the Zoo. „This will allow drivers to stop safely, let their passengers get off, turn back and, along Rakowiecka, Na Niskich Łąkach and Międzyrzecka streets, arrive at permanent parking places at Wybrzeże J. Słowackiego”, explains Ewa Mazur, the spokesperson for the Wroclaw Administration of Roads and City Maintenance (WARCM). And they have seven places for buses at their disposal near the Marshal’s Office. Works on new parking places should be completed by the 26th of September. Additionally, WARCM is planning to acquire a fragment of land near the buildings of the Wroclaw University of Technology in the same area in order to create further parking places for coaches. But negotiations in this matter are still under way.

But this is not all. There is also an idea to create a large car park right near the Zwierzyniecka Footbridge (on the side of ul. Na Grobli), which could be used by private cars, too. This was announced by Wojciech Adamski, Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw, on the www.wroclaw.pl website in July. The investment would be carried out in 2017, and the car park could accommodate up to 40 cars.
