96 million PLN in subsidies in 2016 and 3 million a year later. In 2015, 20 million PLN were transferred from the target reserve of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage to support the programme and to cover its initial expenditure.
A total of 28% of the ECC budget comes from government subsidies. The entire ECC budget is composed of Wroclaw's own resources, EU subsidies, subsidies from Polish and foreign partners and sponsorship contracts.
"I've just spoken about the programme with Mayor Dutkiewicz, ECC coordinators and artists, and I'm confident that the ECC Wroclaw 2016 celebrations will be a momentous event, and that Wroclaw is going to showcase both Lower Silesia and the entire Poland," said Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz during her press conference in Wroclaw.
"Thank you, this is a great moment for Wroclaw. This a chance for us to show that we are capable. I can assure you that all projects included in the ECC WRO 2016 framework programme will be carried out accordingly," said ECC Wroclaw 2016 Director General Krzysztof Maj. "Government subsidies are allocated to particular projects," added Krzysztof Maj.
400 projects, 1000 events
The ECC artistic programme, which was presented in June this year, provides for over 1000 cultural events designed by curators who specialise in particular fields such as architecture, film, literature, music, visual arts, theatre, performance or opera.
The projects are non-profit in design. Almost all events organised as part of the ECC Wroclaw 2016 are generally accessible and free of charge.
